Daily Notes (13/05/2024)

  1. 1.The more I think about “universal” psychology (or as Jung would put it a collective consciousness) (I will publish more work on my understanding of my philosophy – a mathematics heavy belief in how the man interacts in society), the more I believe that Thomas Wolfe was correct when he claimed that everyone ‘search[es] for a real father’. That father can be genetic, at the lowest level, but more fundamentally the search for a leading figure or land (or idea of a very specific cultural place). Today, and many days now, I think of an open frontier on a mountain range covered in grass (perhaps this is some place in the caucus or the Himilayas mimicking my ancestor's migration). In a more sophisticated fashion, Freud examines this in his excellent essay Moses, the namesake of which is the Father, the land (the path to the land, as Moses never set foot in the promised land), the cultural place, and most importantly the Sin of his people the Jews. The murder of Moses was the quintessential sin, the fundamental trauma of his people, and ever since then they have attempted to recover their father to no avail. This longing or repression is within all peoples (distinctly), and we construct many myths, commit many more sins, to wash ourselves of this trauma. I will end it there, but eventually I will pick back on this thread (Please read the Torah, Moses [Freud], and the Book of all Books [Roberto Calasso])

  2. 2.I am attempting to be less anxious, and the way I do this will be simultaneously living in the moment, and planning for the future. Essentially, I will stop catastrophizing about what might happen, and worse imaging what I would do in the worst scenario. Also, I will simply plan and utilize my time better, so I can easily challenge my mind when the former thoughts occur.

  3. 3.I have loved cooking more and more; I will post many more recipes that I enjoy.
